Wendee Ayers, Volunteer is volunteer of the month for ECTLC!

I came to ECTLC in 2015 after spending much of my life making one bad decision after another. In a few months I realized ECTLC was my home, Christian Fellowship of El Cajon is my Church, and I was exactly where I was supposed to be. I was surrounded by everything I needed to become the woman and mother that God wanted me to be. ECTLC gave me my own Bible and showed me every day how much God loved me by providing a place to live and grow with my children.

Eventually, I started leading the Celebrate Recovery meetings and by the time I graduated from the program I was placed in the position of a lead Overseer for the Family Restoration Ministry. This was a huge honor for me and an opportunity to share my testimony and be a part of an amazing organization that teaches us so many practical lessons and most importantly leads us to a relationship with Jesus.

In 2016 everything seemed to come together, I was hired as a caregiver for seniors at Visiting Angels, got my license and insurance, and bought a car. I developed a great working relationship with the owner and eventually was able to help other program members find employment as well.

When we were prepared to transition out, my youngest son Del and I moved into a nice apartment in Lakeside. After much time in prayer, I put together a business plan to start my own company focusing on a way to help make a difference in the way seniors and the elderly live by providing personal, caring, assistance to the seniors and their families.

I am now engaged and planning a September wedding. I have spent much of my spare time volunteering as a case manager for Emergency Housing at ECTLC, which gives me an opportunity to give back to the program that helped change my life.
